As the New Moon energy is now flooding in, we are entering the Virgo Portal. 

What is the Virgo Portal, you ask? 

The Sun + Moon enter Virgo and mark the first of two New Moons within this sign, the next being a Solar Eclipse on September 21. And, even though this New Moon isn’t an eclipse, it is triggering the commencement of the eclipse season (Lunar Eclipse in Pisces on September 7 in Pisces). 

And, because Virgo begins on August 23, this new moon will be stationed at 0° Virgo, and THAT is a big deal that I’ll get to in a bit.

So, let’s talk about Virgo! It’s the 6th sign (rules the 6th house) of the zodiac, governed by Mercury, and is a mutable earth sign. It’s symbolized by the Virgin holding a sheath of wheat, recognizing the season of harvest, reaping what one has sowed, and a well of support sourced in deep wisdom.

Those born under the sign of Virgo are seekers of knowledge and information to reinforce their service to the mind. However, the detail oriented thought processes, meticulous order, and constant self-refinement can take Virgo out of their body’s wisdom, and follow their thoughts into overuse of the mind through analytical processes. 

They love practical solutions, with tried and true methods, but can lose sight of the big picture when overly focused on the details that make it up.

Their dedication to work, service, and duty will spread them out, although when it becomes too much, Virgo knows their limitations, and will halt with boundaries and conviction. 

As a mutable earth they lend a grounding and reinforcing energy to their environment. They possess stability and a nurturing presence, often being seen as reliable and resourceful individuals. But, as a mutable mode sign, they tend to be more passive. Virgos are often viewed as stubborn perfectionists, and while this may be true at times, they can differentiate between what is essential and trivial - making them more versatile than they may come across. 

Both Gemini and Virgo are ruled by Mercury, however they are ruled in different ways. While Mercury’s influence on the Gemini twins is an active mind geared to deliver ideas, and communicate their endless thoughts, Mercury supports Virgo with a penetrating wisdom within the intellectual mind. They possess a sharp mind for analysis and sorting through a flurry of details with great ease.

But, this can also lead to a worrying mind, obsessing over details, and overworking themselves into illness. 

As rulers of the 6th house of health, hospitality, and service, it is critical for those born under this sign to be incredibly aware of what they are putting into their bodies. Virgos do not have a high tolerance for medications, artificial ingredients, and processed foods. This sign also rules the stomach, and those who have a strong Virgo influence in their natal chart, can experience issues in this particular organ, impacting the efficiency of that surrounding system.

Now to apply this to the current New Moon in Virgo portal!

This New Moon marks a preliminary reset, with the more intense alignment being activated in one month with the Solar Eclipse in Virgo. You're in the refinement process of your brilliance, and you know it.

Because this lunar cycle is at 0° Virgo, there is limitless potential that is sitting in the cauldron of creation. The energy has been brewing, churning much transmutation that is desired. 

Remember that this is a “9” year in numerology, as well as being the year of the snake in Chinese astrology.

This year will be a year of endings, and shedding the old. This may have been felt by a series of experiences that have brought you to the edge of who you are, challenging your resolve, identity, belief systems, values, friendships, and career. This could also be one major transition you are struggling to move through that impacts everything else.

You may have been brought to a place of sheer unknowingness, and have had to source power only found at the deepest and innermost core, to find strength, faith, and courage to persevere.

You have revealed something deeper within yourself that you may not have realized, or have forgotten, is an intrinsic potential. The only way you moved through was because of YOU.

You may have forgotten that this central capacity sourced from the inner sanctum even existed. You can forget about the essence of your personal influence + authority when you get comfortable outsourcing your mental energy, and remaining faithful to expectations driven by exterior influences.

This year was given to you as a gift to realize that you are not to live in this way, giving your heart, mind, and spirit to people, places, and situations that do not offer potent co-creation, but depravity and unnecessary sacrifice.

As we move through this portal, know that you have the power to create from a spark that’s being placed in your path. Trust that all tools needed will be provided for...

You are being given a brilliant lens to view yourself, and can now see that where you have underestimated your value + worth, has been a part of a storyline and narrative. Where you have pushed and shoved, and created so much pressure and resistance is not even you, or who you really are.

This is you acting out + away from the alignment in your center, abandoning your spirit, and your deepest knowing. 

Now you get to recalibrate back to what feels valuable, worthy, and abundant.

This initial New Moon in Virgo welcomes you home to your deepest and most profound wisdom. It is asking you to nurture and nourish yourself by placing a spotlight back on your own health and well being. 

Something to be mindful of is the square aspect between the Sun, Moon, and Uranus...

This square aspect presents a surprise twist. Uranus behaves erratically at times and can trigger surprising and sometimes shocking revelations. This is a planet that craves independence and innovation; life beyond the norm. So, do not be surprised if you receive an unexpected message that changes your approach + demeanor towards life. 

Remember that positive and valuable refinements are ever evolving in this journey of life.

The shifts that take place during this transit are going to show you what’s possible, and to clear away more illusory thinking. Over the next couple of weeks this will reveal unhealthy emotional traps that come to light during the Lunar Eclipse on September 7. 

Then you will be given another opportunity to anchor into a more bold + determined Virgo energy, closing out the season, during the Solar Eclipse transit on September 21. Which also happens to be the Autumnal Equinox portal, transitioning us into Libra the following day.
